WHY SQUARESPACE? Glad you asked! Here’s why:

  • ALL IN ONE PLATFORM. Squarespace offers hosting, domains, email, online scheduling and e-commerce all from your account. Easy.

  • SECURE WEBSITE. All Squarespace plans some with an SSL certificate so your visitors can relax, knowing that your site is secure.

  • UPDATES. You never need to do a technical update on your site. Ever. The good people at Squarespace handle all of this for you.

  • SUPER CUSTOMIZABLE. You can achieve pretty much anything you want on your Squarespace website because it allows designers to add custom CSS, HTML and Javascript. While the DIY templates are a great start, custom-coding is what separates YOUR site from all of the others!

  • FREEBIES + DISCOUNTS. When you activate your Squarespace plan, you get a free .COM domain and a free professional email (ie: info@yourcompany.com) for 12 months. Also, because you are working with a Squarespace Circle Member, that’s me, you will get 20% off your first year of hosting.

  • CUSTOMER SERVICE. Squarespace has amazing customer service. This is great if you choose to manage your website yourself, instead of hiring me to make future changes.

CAN I JUST DIY MY WEBSITE? Of course! I firmly believe that you are capable to do whatever you set your mind to. However, just because you can do something, does not mean that you should. Let me tell you a few benefits of working with a designer.

1. You have access to years of design experience. 2. You will save countless hours. Did you know it can take anywhere from 40-50+ hours to design a website? Even longer if you also need to learn how to use the platform. How much money can you make in your own business with those same hours?? 3. You will have a truly custom website that will not look like all of the other DIY websites out there. We are talking custom graphics, custom coding, the works! 4. Having a Circle Member as your designer will get you 20% off your first year of hosting!

DO YOU USE TEMPLATES? Yes and no. Every Squarespace website must start with a template — it’s what you do with it after that is important. Want to know the very first thing I do when I start a new website? I delete all of the pre-designed pages and elements so I have a completely blank canvas. That’s right, I delete absolutely everything!

DO YOU PROVIDE CONTENT? I do not offer copywriting services but I will provide you with some detailed content planners so you know exactly what type of information should go on what page/section. You know your industry and your services best so the copy for your site will be much better than what I can come up with. And don’t worry if it’s not perfect, you can always update/tweak later. That’s the beauty with websites — nothing is set in stone! If you are really struggling with the writing part, you can always hire a professional copywriter or order some on demand content from online copywriters at a fraction of the cost. I can make some suggestions once you book with me.

DO I NEED A PRIVACY POLICY? Did you know that, by law, all websites are required to have a privacy policy? It is the responsibility of the website owner, that’s you, to ensure this is on your website. While I offer adding this page at no additional charge to every website I create, the content must come from you. I am not a lawyer so please do your own research but I can tell you there are many templates available online. If you are a Canadian business, you can purchase a privacy policy and terms and conditions template from The Contracts Market (that’s an affiliate link!), it is created by a Canadian lawyer and where I get my own contracts. You can also read Squarespace’s Guide here. Again, it is your responsibility to make sure your website complies to current local and international laws.
